My condolences to my tia Lala and to my primo's Freddy and Felix! To the rest of our family and friends near and far! Miles and states may separate us but not one of you is not dear to ours hearts! I still can't believe it..I miss u alot Tio! I miss seeing u for 4th of July and u squeezing my hand every time I seen u to see if I can take it lol. U will always be missed & forever remembered. We will see each other again Tio. Love U!!

I remember when he would come to California, he was always dancing in my Nana's living room. It never failed, every time he came to visit the radio was on and he was singing and dancing.
I am thankful my sisters, my dad and I we able to spend many days with him when we lived in Texas. Visiting him almost every day was what we looked forward to. Tio Ruben's sense of humor is what drew us closer to him. One day when the nurse showed up he began to say to her that he got bit by a wetback mosquito because he was in Mexico at the time he got bit. He was always making us laugh despite what he was going through and that is something I will always keep with me. No matter how tough it got for him, he kept a smile and his sense of humor.
Now he's taken all of those amazing things with him to heaven.

I have been thinking about what words I can use to express my memories of Tio Ruben and as I sit here thinking, I can only come up with is one word, "LOVE". All I can remember is the love, he gave all of us. He loved us with all his heart and soul. Our family has lots of great memories of Tio Ruben in our special way. His laughter, his dances moves, his strength, his fight for the last couple of years. We can go on and on with all the memories but I strongly believe that he is now in a better place. No more pain, no more medicine, no more hospitals, he is now in heaven. He is crying tears of joy and sorrow as he had to say goodbye to us and hello to grandma, grandpa, Tia Ene and the rest of the family.
Tio Ruben, you will forever live in our hearts, I love you and I will miss you.

Tio Ruben will always be remembered for his joking around, his love of gardening and the stories he would share.
I will remember mom waiting on Sunday mornings to get his calls. Her cooking all his favorite foods. The Family Reunion/BBQ we had at Malaga park. Him grabbing anyone to dance with him.
All mom wanted to do was go see him when she got really sick. Dad would tell her to get better so he could take her to Texas. She didn't make it back there, but now they are together again.
I pray for God to give you all the strength to get through this.
