Rodolfo M Garza 's Obituary
Rodolfo M. Garza, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at McAllen Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gavino & Elida Garza; 2 sisters, Gloria Garcia & Sylvia Morales and a grandson, Robert James Martinez. Rudy was a man of his word, a true servant that loved his country, serving in the US Army from 1555-57. He was a man of faith with a reputation of a great Gospel singer, a recording artist and music minister for many years. He was a community volunteer for PSJA in high school events singing the National Anthem as well as the Fun Run for many years. He served his community in the Pony League as a volunteer coach as well as the board league and the civil Service Commission board. He loved his job as the PSJA stadium supervisor serving under A.D. Gil Garza. Rudy as they referred to him was a people person whom loved to serve others by opening the stadium gate at 4:30 a.m. for the early risers. In 2005 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Mexico and South Texas Umpires. He loved his wife Hortensia of 60 years and his 3 children that he cherished. He will be missed greatly. His last words to his children were, “I love you too.” He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Hortensia S. Garza; daughter, Hortencia G. Martinez; 2 sons, Rodolfo Marcelo Garza Jr. & Gavino M. Garza; brother, Romeo Garza; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren & 6 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 9:30 am at Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem, 302 E. Caffery in Pharr. Burial with military honors will follow at RGV State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Services are entrusted to Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston of Pharr
