NORBERTO MARTINEZ LEAL JR.'s Obituary
Norberto M. Leal Jr. 82, went to be with the lord on October 23, 2022, . Norberto was born in McAllen, Texas, on June 07, 1940, to Norberto and Filomena Leal and was raised in Las Milpas. As a child, he worked with his family, farming and driving tractors. He worked fields in the Valley and other parts of Texas including in the central United States. In March of 1960, he joined the United States Army and was proud to serve his country in Charlie Company 1st Brigade 35th Infantry Division and especially being as an Army Ranger. After his military service he returned to his hometown. His passion was working with his hands and never shied away from a hard day’s work as he enjoyed working in the oil fields as a roughneck later retiring from Hidalgo County working as a machinist. Once retired he spent his days looking for odd jobs to pass the time. When not working, he loved being a grandpa. He is survived by his wife Maria Ricarda Leal, his children Norberto Leal III, Noe Leal, and Maribel Leal; two stepdaughters Alma Martinez and Nancy Bazan, and eight grandchildren; his siblings, Anita L. Flores, and Eva Garcia. Mr. Leal was preceded in death by his first wife Lucia Longoria Leal; parents, Norberto and Filomena Leal; his siblings, Raul Leal, Jovita Lopez, Ramon Leal, Benita L. Garza, Ramiro Leal, Elva L. Gonzalez, Ruben Leal and Bobby Leal. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston, 706 W. Sam Houston Blvd. in Pharr Texas. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 28th at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the RGV State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 South Inspiration Road, Mission Texas. Funeral services are under the direction of Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston in Pharr.
