Maria Evangelina Salazar Zavala, age 54, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 17, 1971 to Jesus Maria Zavala and Maria Eugenia Garcia.She is survived by her 5 children, Amy Fonseca, Mellisa Fonseca, Jessica Galaviz, Jose Humberto Galaviz and Fernando Galaviz; 7 brothers and sisters, Anita Zavala, Francisca Ocaña Zavala. Emilio Zavala, Cesar Humberto Garcia Zavala, Carla Gutierres, Daniel Zavala and Jamie Hernandez; 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm at Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston in Pharr. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at San Juan City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston on Pharr.
She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
