He worked for the City of Pharr for 24 years in the water department, first as meter-reader and rising to supervisor. He was an active, dedicated member of St. Margaret Church helping with many of their activities, especially the annual BBQ. Juan was a devout member of the Cursillo movement, often giving presentations at their retreats and quietly encouraging and praying for the participants. He was a tireless advocate for the movement, always inviting those he knew to join the Cursillistas to deepen their relationship with Christ. He is survived by his four children Juan (Claudia) Sánchez, Joanna (Nathan) Edwards, Joel Sánchez and Jesus Salazar; 6 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Maria Salas, Apolonia Fernandez and Maria Elena Sánchez and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Epifanio and Maria del Refugio Sánchez and his brother Salvador Sánchez. His family will remember him as a person of great faith and of deep commitment to his family, church, friends, and his community. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary at Aurora Funeral Home 706 W. Sam Houston in Pharr.
