Jose Nieves Almazan's Obituary
Jose Nieves Almazan entered eternal rest on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 92 years old.
He was a lifelong resident of Pharr, TX. and had spent most of his life working with his business,
Almazan’s Upholstery.
Surviving family members include his devoted and beloved spouse of 70 years, Ramona Alvarez Almazan; daughters, Yolanda Barnett (Paul), Diana Almazan, Vangie Rivas (Willie), and Melba Pena (Omar). Surviving sons include Jose Nieves Almazan Jr. (Lucy), Javier Almazan (Alicia), and Israel Almazan (Yolanda). As a grandfather, Mr. Almazan is survived by 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Aurora Almazan Macias, Lupita Almazan Vega, Cruz Almazan Garza, and Canuto Almazan. Mr. Almazan was preceded in death by his first daughter, Ida Irene Almazan. Funeral services will be held at Aurora Funeral Home in Pharr, TX. on Friday, April 25 th . Viewing will take place from 11:00-8:00 p.m. A special mass is scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr, TX., followed by burial services at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery located in Edinburg, TX. Pallbearers are Victor Medellin, Joshua Rivas, Marcos Garcia, Jason Medellin, Israel Almazan Jr., Javier Almazan Jr., Brian Almazan, and Oscar Isaiah Marez.
