Gerald Kennard Euler 's Obituary
Gerald Kennard Euler passed away in Kerrville, Texas on May 20, 2018, at 80 years of age. He was born on September 5, 1937 in Troy, Kansas to Georgia Wykert and Kennard Euler. In 1942, he moved with his family to the Rio Grande Valley, with primary residence in Pharr, Texas. Gerald graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1955, received his Bachelor’s in History in1959 and earned his Master’s in Education in 1974 from Pan American University.He served as a teacher for thirty-five years with McAllen ISD. He was a Pharr Volunteer Fire Fighter for thirty-one years and attained the rank of captain.
Gerald had three children, Troy, Tracy and Travis Euler, with his first wife Paula Burkeen. In 1973 he married Eva Nell McKinzey, beginning a blended family, and adopted her son Kenneth Richard as his own.
Gerald is survived by his wife Eva of Kerrville TX; children Steve and Tracy Edwards of The Colony TX, Travis and Connie Euler of De Soto KS, and Kenneth Richard and Jeaton Euler of Kerrville TX; ten grandchildren (Samantha, Randi, Steven, Lindsey, Colton, Dalton, Maddi, Andrew, Emily and Garrett), two great-grandchildren (Alden and Kennedy), and his brother Roger Euler of Mission TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Fred Gardner, Kennard and Lily Euler, his step-brother Homer Euler, and his eldest son, Troy Euler.
Gerald’s passions in life were first his teaching career; he was totally dedicated to his students, helping them to excel in woodworking, welding, leatherworking, and architectural drafting. He loved to hunt on his deer lease, and he had a strong love and passion for coin collecting.
Services will be held at the Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston, 706 W. Sam Houston in Pharr, TX on Saturday, May 26, 2018. The viewing will be from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. A chapel service begins at 12:00 pm followed by a graveside service conducted with full honors by the Pharr Fire Department Honor Guard at Valley Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in Gerald Euler’s honor to the Pharr Volunteer Fire Department, 118 S. Cage
