Emma Rosales' Obituary
Emma F. Rosales, age 95, passed away on November 13, 2024, at her residence in
Pharr, surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was born on May 11, 1929, in Edcouch, TX to Jose and Dolores Flores and
was lovingly raised by her uncle and aunt, Juan and Sara Licón. She was married
to Ruben Z. (Sepi) Rosales for 73 years. Ruben preceded her in death on February
1, 2024. She is survived by her children, Ruben Rosales Jr. (Irene), Emma R.
Garcia (+Juan Ramon), Estela Rosales, Romeo Rosales (Frances) and Roel Rosales
(Gloria), 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-
grandchildren. Also surviving her is her sister, Irma Castro, of Fresno, California
and her sister-in-law, Cleo Licón, who visited her every day and who she loved like
a sister. Emma worked 19 years at PSJA ISD as a community aide, serving the
students and parents of Whitney Elementary until her retirement in 1994.
Emma and her late husband were devoted Catholics and were members of St.
Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr, where they were married in 1950.
Together they shared their love for God by giving baptism and CCE classes.
Emma held a weekly prayer group in her home for several years and she also led a
church choir for 30 years after teaching herself to play the guitar. In her later years
Emma enjoyed going to the San Juan Nursing Home weekly to play and sing
church hymns and “canciones del mundo” for the residents.
Emma loved cooking for her family and every Saturday everyone gathered to
enjoy her homemade tortillas, food and each other’s love and company. She was
an avid reader and enjoyed working in her garden.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Aurora Funeral Home
Sam Houston from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00
p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at St.
Margaret’s Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Palm Valley
Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Her 8 granddaughters will serve as pall bearers.
The family would like to thank Robert Montes, RN, from New Age Hospice and
Rosie, Marcela, Belem and Thayde for the loving care given to Emma for almost 3
years. Services are entrusted to Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston of Pharr.
