Charley Pat Moore's Obituary
Charley Pat Moore after being faithful to God for 96 years went home to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven. With his son and daughter at his side he passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. Pat as he preferred to be called, was born in Pharoh, Oklahoma in an oilfield company tent Wednesday October 25, 1922. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII on December 16, 1942. Eventually he was stationed in Kearney, Nebraska where he met Edith Noffke, a college student, on a blind date. She became the love of his life and they were married on June 1, 1944. They lived in Nebraska for a short time before settling near Alamo, Texas in 1948. Pat and Edith joined Zion Lutheran Church in Alamo that same year. He served the Church in many positions, from a school bus driver to the congregation president where he was a faithful servant for the rest of his life. Eventually he moved to Edinburg and became a lifelong resident. To provide for his family, over the years, he was a machinist, a welder, and finally his most rewarding occupation was owning his own business, Pat Moore Drilling Company. He owned and operated the business for Twenty-Two years. Not one to sit still after retirement he became a Hospital Volunteer at Edinburg Regional Hospital for 14 years. A job he enjoyed thoroughly. Even after retiring from the volunteer work he became a regular at his local Whataburger. He developed a close relationship with many people there, even the employees. He had a daily routine of walking twice a day, either inside the house or at local parks and bragged of walking more than two miles every day. Lately he received a WWII cap, which he wore quite often and proudly. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his son Lawrence (Lorraine) Moore, and daughter Lynette (Terry) Hickman; two brothers Harold Moore and Joe Moore; four grandchildren Stephanie Navarro, Michael Moore, Jeffery Hickman, and Allison Steed; five great grandchildren, Zoe Navarro, Logan Steed, Tyler Steed, Andrew Hickman, and Kirstyn Hickman. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith, and daughter Marjorie Ann Moore, his parents Marvin and Thelma Moore. Brothers Wayne, Gene, and Millard Moore. Sisters Mildred Feichtinger, Dorothy Wells, and Ollie Mae Kitrell. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston, 706 W. Sam Houston Pharr, Texas from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Funeral Service with be held on Monday December 10, 2018 at Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston at 10:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Hilcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Services are entrusted to Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston in Pharr.
