Alicia L. Cron's Obituary
Alicia L. Cron, 76, of Alamo, TX, entered God’s kingdom on January 7, 2024. She was born in Laredo, TX, on February 28, 1947, to Eduardo and Maria Lara.
She graduated from Texas Woman's University (Denton, TX) in 1970. Alicia was a kindhearted ESL teacher who impacted the lives of her students throughout her 35-year career within PSJA ISD. Winning multiple Teacher of the Year awards throughout her tenure, her greatest accolade came in 2001 when she was awarded Educator of the Year by the Texas Council of Teachers of English (TCTE). In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music and dancing, which she incorporated into her daily life as the proud sponsor of the folklorico dance troupe while at Alamo Middle School.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Auston of Alamo, TX; daughter Lorelei and husband Rick Verbeek (grandchildren Alyssa & Ryan) of The Netherlands, and son, Christopher (grandchild Chrysta) and his wife Patricia Cron of Mission, TX, brothers Pedro Lara, Sr., Eduardo Lara and Ricardo Lara of Laredo, TX. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents, brother Juan Lara, and sister Maria D. Lara.
There will be a viewing from 4-8pm on Thursday, January 11th at Aurora Funeral Home, 706 West Sam Houston Blvd., Pharr, TX. A second short viewing on Friday, January 12th from 1:30-2:30 pm will be held at First Baptist Church of Pharr, 400 W. Ridge Rd, followed by a church service at 2:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alicia’s life and how her laugh could change the energy of an entire room.
