Linda Sanders
I just adored my sweet, funny, and feisty Aunt Clara and always enjoyed talking to her on the phone, laughing together, and catching up on news and each other’s lives. She was a unique combination of honey and firecracker, sunshine and splash, and her zippy personality was so rewarding to engage in lively conversation! Her voice was full of Southern charm, like fresh bread spread with warm butter. I loved to hear her reminisce about her childhood, including her and my mother Elaine and their parents living at “Atomic City” in Oak Ridge, TN, during this epic period of World War II. They knew how to “kick up their heels” on occasion and enjoy life even when times were hard and money was scarce then. Aunt Clara was so articulate, sparkling, caring, and irreplaceable. She was such an ageless “Golden Girl” to me and the coolest aunt! She will be 90+ years young forever like her late sister Elaine was. She is the last of the seven Thennes sisters and the family she grew up in. I will miss you so very much, Aunt Clara, but God bless you on your journey home to see Him and your loved ones who are already there. No doubt you all will rejoice now. My heart, thoughts, and caring prayers go out to her dear family there in Lawrence.
-Her Loving Niece, Linda Elaine Sanders
